Wascana Community School Partnership

  • Evraz Place has been a “Partner In Education” since 1990 first with Herchmer Community School and now with Wascana Community School
  • Over the course of the school year, Evraz Place staff are pleased to provide the following to students, staff and families at Wascana: Christmas Lunch and gifts for all students; floor time in Credit Union EventPlex; Graduation gifts for Grade 8 students; and a Year-End BBQ with Student of the Year Awards for each classroom.

North Central Family Centre

  • Our annual Taste of Spring recognizes North Centre Family Centre a charity partner, with a portion of the proceeds from the sales at this event being given to that partner.

Adopt A Family

  • Evraz Place staff are very committed to Adopt A Family, an annual holiday program that provides groceries and gifts for disadvantaged families at Christmas. Throughout the year, staff raise money through 50/50 draws and at the staff Christmas Party. The amount is matched by Evraz Place.
  • In 2008, 5 families from Wascana School were adopted

Erhlo Community Services

  • Ehrlo Community Services held the Monday Night Football (MNF) League finals in the Credit Union EventPlex in October.

Community Christmas

  • In 2008, Evraz Place held a community Christmas for families in North Central with Turkey Dinner and all the trimmings and a visit from Santa Claus

North Central Employment Program

  • The North Central Employment Program is an employment-readiness program that targets youth-at-risk in  the community.
  • Evraz Place provides unpaid work placements for participants at various times throughout the program. There is value to the work that the participants do, for example helping with clean-up during Buffalo Days. Since the participants are already being paid through their funders, Evraz Place pays an hourly honorarium which the organization uses for supplies, equipment or programming not covered under by the program.
  • The Vice Presist of Human Resources and Organizational Development at Evraz Place is a mentor for the program.
